St Stephen Health Care Undergoes Transformation

World class Winelands health centre continues to innovate

Cape Town, September 06, 2017 – After almost three years of continuous care for patients, St Stephen Oncology Centre and Sub-Acute Hospital in Paarl, Western Cape, has changed its name to St Stephen Health Care, aligning its new brand identity with an existing culture of holistic, compassionate treatment and medical innovation.

In addition, St Stephen’s has also introduced more beds and now has two full-time oncologists along with newly appointed General Manager, Gawie Marx – himself a cancer survivor – to its interdisciplinary team.

“The rebranding reflects a commitment to produce the very best, holistic treatment and care in a state-of-the-art facility while keeping abreast of modern day technology and contemporary treatments,” says Gawie Marx who himself was diagnosed with acute leukaemia 20 years ago.

“We believe quality healthcare is non-negotiable and we take pride in being able to provide not only a world-class facility but the kind of care patients require, empowering them to be part of the healing process.”

Having opened its doors at the end of 2014 – and officially opened by Western Cape Premier, Helen Zille in March 2015 – St Stephen’s specialises in the treatment of all types of cancer with high-end radiation oncology and chemotherapy.

This includes the state-of-the-art Varian linear accelerator, aptly named the Unique, which uses advanced RapidArc* technology, making it possible to treat many types of cancer with advanced precision, imaging and speed.

In its sub-acute hospital, St Stephen’s also has 22 beds and a rehabilitation gym, offering palliative care, rehabilitation for stroke sufferers and postoperative patients, with the utmost care given to individual needs & well-being of both patients and their families.

“In addition to the subtle changes made to St Stephen’s logo which reflects its contemporary positioning, our new website will increase the Health Care centre’s online presence, benefitting communication not only with patients and their families but the community at large,” adds Gawie Marx.
